Images used in print, or digital applications, can make - or break - your messaging. Start with inferior quality, and the final product will be inferior. Trash in equals trash out. Our color department has more than 100 years of combined color and pre-press experience, and we are way beyond a teenager’s idea of Photoshop.
We don’t make the artwork; we make the artwork better.
We provide eCommerce vendors, publishers,, advertising agencies, galleries and photographers with…
Clipping // Drop-outs // Color correction // Retouching // Shadow enhancement // Existing PDF manipulation // Packaging mock-ups // Placement of on-site proofers
For Publishers - Digital asset workflow // Lo-res placement files linked to hi-res // 4 and 5-Color digital files for SWOP or laser proofs // Print file preparation // Preflight ads // Press checks
We teach press operators.
The goal with any print run is to attain acceptable, pleasing color as quickly as possible. This eliminates waste. This saves resources. This saves money.
All presses have a curve that is applied to the files before crating printing plates. This curve will depend on the press, and all curves are different. The curve is adjusted by the printer depending on the paper. We step in when the printer is not getting the results they need quick enough to start saving acceptable copies for the client.
To ensure quality, we do the following…
Help press operators adjust the color target more aggressively to get quicker results.
Help press operators determine when it is okay to start saving, which means better quality reaching the client.
Once we see press operators understand what is expected, we have them run a form on there own to see if they make the adjustments we expect. Depending on the experience and understanding what we are requiring, we will determine the need for additional press checks.
We offer a-la-carte pricing for services requested. Upon request, we can provide a scope-of-work, bulk agreement. This may work to in cases where a client has a set budget, often in cases where we are becoming your out-sourced production department.
For color, we use an hourly rate structure. If we can limit the amount of work needed, we can keep the cost down. Often, we can run a test on a few images and provide an estimate of cost.
For press checks and the training of press operators, we charge a day rate plus expenses.
